Cake Care Instructions

PICK UP: Corona Free Pick up: Back into the driveway, stay inside your vehicle, pop your trunk or SUV hatch, call or text to let me know you are outside, I will come outside with PPE and place the cake in your trunk or hatch. Pick ups are best done in a very cool, air conditioned car. Make sure you have enough room in your car for the size cake you are purchasing. Please have a clean level space available. After you pick up your cake, Grandma’s Cakes KC, LLC no longer assumes any responsibility for any damage caused to the cake.

TRANSPORT: Keep the cake cool and away from direct sunlight. Please make sure you have a flat surface in your car to transport your cake. Please avoid putting the cake on a slanted car seat or any area with a slant, we DO NOT recommend someone holding the cake. DO NOT LEAVE ANY OF OUR DESSERTS IN THE CAR FOR LONGER THAN IT TAKES FOR YOU TO GET HOME. THE HEAT AFFECTS THE FROSTING AND CAUSES IT TO BREAK DOWN. When carrying your cake, please place both hands under the cake, being careful to keep hands under the cake center. Keep the cake level at all times. DO NOT PICK UP THE CAKE BY THE SIDES. THE BOARD WILL BEND AND THE FROSTING MIGHT CRACK OR GET STUCK ON THE EDGE OF THE BOX. If you will be traveling with your cake after you take it home, we recommend placing the cake in a large enough cooler to accommodate the cake box and add dry ice to keep the cake cold and firm for travel and of course, drive carefully and avoid slamming your brakes or turning sharply.

STORAGE: Cream Cheese Frosting, Fresh Whipped Cream Icing and Cheesecakes must be refrigerated. If you do not plan on eating the cake the same day as the Pick-Up date, place the cake in the freezer and remove 1 hour prior to serving. When placing Buttercream or Cream Cheese Frosting in the fridge, please be aware that your cake will more than likely pick up the scent and flavor of any onion, garlic or other strong smelling items in your refrigerator. Please keep it away from these items if possible. Buttercream frosted cakes are best at room temperature. Allow the cake to sit at room temperature to develop best flavor and texture.  â€‹

Red Velvet, Carrot, Fruit and cakes with Cream Cheese Frosting should stay refrigerated up to 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving. Keep cakes away from direct sunlight, moisture and heat, as they may fade or melt. If you have left over cake, do not store it in the refridgerator, because it will cause your cake to get stale and dry out. You should freeze your left over cake; cut the cake into individual slices, wrap in Saran Wrap and place in Ziploc Freezer bags, remove a slice from the freezer when you want to enjoy a slice of cake. The slice will be ready to eat with 10 min or less.

If wrapped properly, your cake can stay in the freezer for up to 3 months to one year.
